Kruger Park stretches for over more than two million hectares, the Kruger National Park is one of the world’s largest game reserves and a truly remarkable destination. Owing to its exceptional size, visitors are able to experience fantastic diversity – from changing scenery and ecosystems to an impressive array of animals, plant life and bird life. The park is home to over 130 mammals and over 500 bird species. Visitors can look forward to learning about the area’s prehistoric past, enjoying a host of accommodation options, and viewing abundant wildlife including the famed Big Five. The diversity sheer density of wildlife makes Kruger National Park an unforgettable and potentially life-changing experience.
Our game drives are done in open 4×4 safari vehicles and in an air conditioned microbus
Day 1
Depart from day ahead of us, we depart early morning from Johannesburg to avoid peak hour traffic, travelling east across the Highveld agri-cultural and coal mining land towards the town of Belfast. We will stop at Alzu Petro Port for coffee and refreshments. Alzu is the only place in the world where you can use the Ladies or Gents with a view over wild animal such as buffalo and rhino etc. We should be at the Blyde river canyon at 13H00 and if the skies are clear, prepare for some amazing scenery at the canyon and Gods Window. We will stop for lunch on route or at Harries Pancakes in Graskop. We overnight and dine in Graskop.
Day 2:
After breakfast we depart for Kruger gate and travel up to Skukuza for our first African safari, enjoying game viewing from the gate to Skukuza camp in our microbus.
As the headquarters of the Kruger Park, Skukuza has become a little town in the middle of the bush. Its 1400 residents and thousands of daily visitors enjoy wonderful views through Sycamore Figs and Natal Mahoganies. Situated on the banks of the Sabie River, the camp’s activities and facilities are diverse, as are the area’s plant and wildlife. Accommodation options include campsites, 21 furnished safari tents, semi luxury bungalows, cottages and 4 guesthouses. The camp also features a doctor, a shop, a bank, a post office, a library, a museum, restaurants and a cafeteria with decks overlooking the river.
At Skukuza we leave the bus and luggage near reception, collect our game viewer (Open safari vehicle) and travel south searching for the Big 5. This is another long day but an exciting one so have your camera ready and remember a hat, sun screen and binoculars. In the afternoon we return to Skukuza and check in the out accommodation. Explore the camp and visit the shop until time for dinner at the Cattle Baron under African stars.
Day 3:
Today is a full day game viewing in our Open safari vehicle. We have breakfast at a picnic spot somewhere in the bush so we depart as soon as the gate is open to perhaps meet the predators out early on the hunt. The picnic spots are not fenced so expect wildlife taking a walk through while we have breakfast. I suggest the South African “Bush Toastie” done on the fire. The safari is again a long one but this is your opportunity to see as much wildlife as possible. We return to our camp in the afternoon Many people dream of this safari so this is your turn to learn of the African bush and experience it. We have dinner in Skukuza.
Day 4:
Kruger Park to Johannesburg:
Today it’s time to leave this amazing place towards home with your last game drive starting early and a breakfast at the Cattle Baron. After breakfast we have time to pack our bags and depart at 09H00 for a last game drive to Phabeni gate near Hazyview. We should be back in Johannesburg at 17H00 for your drop-off at the airport or hotel. Lunch will be at Alzu.
