Elephant Sanctuary

Guests are guided in small groups on foot through The Elephant Sanctuary near Magaliesburg. Guides will provide in-depth information and insight into African elephants. You will be introduced to our elephants in a forest area, and here you will be able to touch and interact with our elephants. You will see the special relationship that the elephant handlers share with their elephants and become a part of it. Mosadi Maroela, Khumba, Thandi and Jabu are female elephants . The largest, Mosadi, is approximately 2.4 meters at the shoulder.

Itinerary:

We travel past Lanseria airport and over the Hartebeespoortdam to reach the Elephant Sanctuary. Depending on the activity that you choose we will advise on the departure time.

Morning experience

Short walk with the elephants trunk-in-hand. See where the elephant sleep at night in their stables. Feed the elephants. On some hot days you may even see the elephants swimming. Lunch on the main deck overlooking the elephants. Remember to wear flat walking shoes, sun hats and bring your camera.

Afternoon tour

You will be introduced to our elephants in the mountain area, uphill walk approximately 200m, and here you will be able to touch and interact with our elephants. You will see the special relationship that the elephant handlers share with their elephants and become a part of it. Short walk with the elephants trunk-in-hand. See where the elephant sleep at night in their stables. Feed the elephants. On some hot days you may even see the elephants swimming.
