KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
5 DAYS • 4 NIGHTS | FLY-IN SAFARI
Fly from Cape Town or Johannesburg to Skukuza
Get ready for an unforgettable African adventure! From the first glimpse of the bushveld to golden sunsets and exciting night drives, every day brings a new chance to discover the magic of Kruger National Park. Travel through beautiful landscapes, keep watch for the legendary Big Five, spot colourful birdlife and enjoy the thrill of being surrounded by the sights, smells and sounds of the wild.
Arrival • First safari • Sunset drinks • Dinner
Your safari adventure begins with a road transfer to Cape Town International Airport or OR Tambo International Airport for your flight to Skukuza, the gateway to the southern Kruger wilderness.
On arrival at Skukuza Airport, meet your safari guide and let the adventure begin! Depending on your arrival time, set off on your first game drive and ease into the rhythm of the African bush. Keep your camera ready: impala may be grazing nearby, elephants could be moving between the trees, and the first exciting sighting might be just around the bend.
Continue to Skukuza Rest Camp, your home for the first two nights. As the afternoon light turns warm and golden, enjoy sunset drinks and soak up the sounds of the bush as the day winds down. It’s the perfect moment to toast the start of your safari.
Enjoy dinner at the camp restaurant and share the day’s highlights. Then settle in for your first night in the heart of Kruger, with the unforgettable sounds of Africa all around you.
Early-morning drive • Lower Sabie • Bush breakfast • Night safari
Rise early, grab a quick cup of coffee and climb aboard for a sunrise safari. The bush is wonderfully alive at this time of day, and the cool morning air offers a chance to look for animals that have been active overnight. Your guide will scan the roads, riverbanks and surrounding bush for fresh tracks and movement.
Travel towards Lower Sabie, following scenic routes near the river. Watch for elephants coming to drink, hippos in the water, crocodiles basking on the banks and antelope alert to every sound. Bird lovers should keep their eyes open for colourful kingfishers, eagles and other species that make Kruger a remarkable birding destination.
Pause for breakfast at a designated picnic spot or Lower Sabie Rest Camp. Enjoy a relaxed break before heading out again in an open safari vehicle. Your guide will help interpret animal behaviour and the little clues of the bush—from tracks in the sand to alarm calls that may signal something interesting nearby.
Continue game viewing through the late morning, then stop for lunch at a camp or picnic spot. Return to Skukuza for some time to rest, freshen up and recharge before the next adventure.
As the sun begins to set, join an evening drive in a Kruger National Park safari vehicle, using spotlights to search for nocturnal wildlife. This is a completely different side of the bush: keep watch for hyenas, civets, genets, owls and, with luck, predators moving under cover of darkness. The drive lasts approximately three hours, subject to park arrangements.
Return to camp for dinner at the restaurant. Swap stories about the day’s sightings—because in Kruger, no two game drives are ever quite the same.
Sunrise safari • Bushveld and river routes • New camp
Start the day with an early coffee before heading out on another open-vehicle safari. Today’s journey takes you through a variety of bushveld landscapes and along river areas, offering fresh opportunities to look for lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo—the famous Big Five.
Your guide will also help you appreciate the smaller wonders of the reserve. Look for giraffes browsing among the trees, zebras and wildebeest moving across open areas, monkeys playing in the branches and birds calling from the riverine vegetation. Every sighting adds another piece to the story of this extraordinary ecosystem.
Stop for breakfast at a picnic site or another rest camp, then continue exploring through the mid-morning. Enjoy the changing scenery and keep your binoculars close: sometimes the most memorable moments are unexpected, from a herd crossing the road to a beautiful bird perched in the sunlight.
Pause for lunch or refreshments at a designated picnic spot or camp before continuing towards your next accommodation. Check in at the camp where you will spend the next two nights and settle into your chalet.
In the late afternoon, head out for another game drive as the temperatures cool and the bush takes on a rich golden glow. Watch for animals becoming active again before returning to camp for dinner and a well-earned rest.
A new route • Scenic breakfast stop • Relaxing camp time • Night drive
Today brings another opportunity to explore a different part of Kruger. Set off on a morning game drive along a fresh route, looking for wildlife and enjoying the ever-changing landscapes. Your guide will choose the route according to conditions, recent sightings and the day’s safari possibilities.
Stop for breakfast at another rest camp with views over a river or the surrounding landscape, where available. Take a moment to enjoy the scenery, listen to the bird calls and appreciate how much life gathers around these precious water sources.
After breakfast, continue game viewing. Look out for elephants browsing, giraffes moving gracefully between trees, buffalo herds and predators resting in the shade. Remember to look beyond the road as well—birds, insects and smaller creatures bring the bush to life.
Return to camp around the middle of the day for time to relax, explore the camp at your own pace and enjoy a break from the safari vehicle. It’s a chance to recharge, review your photographs and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the African bush.
Later, head out on an evening spotlight drive in a Kruger National Park safari vehicle for approximately three hours. As darkness falls, the sounds of the bush change and nocturnal animals may emerge. Keep your eyes peeled for night-active species and predators, while remembering that sightings can never be guaranteed.
Return to camp for dinner with your guide. Make the most of your final full evening in the park, sharing favourite moments and celebrating the wildlife encounters that have made your safari special.
Final game viewing • Breakfast stop • Flight from Skukuza
Enjoy your final morning in Kruger as you check out and begin the journey back towards Skukuza Airport. There is still time for memorable wildlife viewing along the route, so keep your camera ready and your eyes on the bush.
Stop for breakfast at a picnic spot or rest camp along the way. Enjoy the last opportunity to take in the fresh bushveld air, listen to the birds and look for animals moving through the landscape. The journey from the Satara area towards Skukuza offers more chances to appreciate Kruger’s varied scenery and wildlife, depending on the route and your flight schedule.
Continue to Skukuza Airport for your flight to Cape Town or OR Tambo International Airport. On arrival in Johannesburg/Cape Town, a transfer will take you to your hotel, as arranged.
Your five-day safari may be coming to an end, but you’ll leave with wonderful memories of open-vehicle game drives, glowing sunsets, incredible landscapes and the special thrill of experiencing the African wilderness.
COME FOR THE BIG FIVE. LEAVE WITH A HEART FULL OF AFRICA.
