Depart from Johannesburg to Kruger Park:
As it is a long day ahead of us, we depart early morning from Johannesburg to avoid any peak hour traffic, travelling east across the Highveld farmlands towards Nelspruit, the capital of Mpumalanga. We will enjoy a brunch on the way to Kruger Park. Upon entering the park we start with the first day of game viewing where you might just see Elephant, Impala, Kudu, Giraffe and many bird species. We will book into Skukuza Rest Camp for the next two night’s stay. Relax in the camp until it is time for dinner. Dinner will be at the restaurant.
Overnight: Skukuza Rest Camp
As the headquarters of the Kruger Park, Skukuza has become a little town in the middle of the bush. Its 1400 residents and thousands of daily visitors enjoy wonderful views through Sycamore Figs and Natal Mahoganies. Situated on the banks of the Sabie River, the camp’s activities and facilities are diverse, as are the area’s plant and wildlife. Accommodation options include campsites, 21 furnished safari tents, semi luxury bungalows, cottages and 4 guesthouses. It also features a doctor, a shop, a bank, a post office, a library, a museum, a restaurant and a cafeteria with decks overlooking the river.
Game viewing in Kruger:
We will do game drives in open vehicles from the camp, enjoying breakfast and lunch at either picnic spots, or at some of the surrounding camp’s restaurants. Enjoy early morning coffee and rusks before departing on the game viewing for the day. The area around Skukuza is rich with variety of game, so the days are set out to explore the area. Keep your camera ready for any animal that might cross the road. Dinner either at the restaurant again or if you want we can organise a true South African BBQ (braai) for you under the stars.
Game viewing in Kruger:
Today we have breakfast at a picnic spot so we depart as early as possible from Skukuza to visit our next camp. Today we travel in our air conditioned vehicle. Keep an eye out for the nocturnal animals like Lion, Leopard as they are still around in the early mornings. Game viewing all the way. We should arrive around lunch time in Berg en Dal camp where we will stay for 1 night. Late afternoon drive to look for some more animals, returning to camp for dinner at the restaurant.
